Birth Control Options
Choosing a birth control (contraceptive) method is a very personal decision. There are several options available, only you and your partner can decide the best method for you. Many people change their birth control method several times throughout their reproductive years. There are a few considerations to keep in mind while choosing a contraceptive method.
- How effective the method is.
- How likely you are to use it, i.e. will you use it if you have to put it in place every time? Can you remember to take a pill every day?
- Safety
- Cost
- Protection against STD's
- Reversability
Most contraceptive methods take an ongoing, consistent commitment. Make sure you understand the method you have chosen.
